01 Information We Collect
We collect information necessary to provide Landing Zone's helicopter EMS operational services. This includes:

We do not collect patient data, flight records, dispatch information, or any protected health information (PHI). Landing Zone is a supplementary reference tool, not a medical records system.
02 How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your account
- Display landing zones, hospital helipads, and facility data relevant to your subscribed states
- Share operational data (LZs, NOTAMs, frequencies) within your group
- Send push notifications for group activity, NOTAMs, and administrative actions
- Process subscription payments and verify access entitlements
- Diagnose crashes and improve app stability
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to operating the Landing Zone service.
03 Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Information is shared only in the following limited circumstances:
04 Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) on servers in the United States. Firebase is certified to ISO 27001, SOC 1, SOC 2, and SOC 3 standards.
We implement security measures including:
- Firestore security rules restricting access to authenticated users and their authorized groups
- All data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS
- Passwords hashed and salted by Firebase Authentication — never stored in plaintext
- Push tokens stored only for active users and rotated regularly
- Payment card data handled entirely by Stripe — we never store card numbers
No system is perfectly secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
05 Location Data
Landing Zone requests access to your device location to display your position on the map and calculate proximity to landing zones and hospitals. Location is used only while the app is in the foreground — we do not track background location.
Your precise location is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. The map center coordinates used for search bias are not stored or logged.
You may deny location permission at any time in your device settings. The app remains functional without location access; however, map centering and proximity features will not be available.
06 Children's Privacy
Landing Zone is a professional aviation tool intended for use by licensed helicopter pilots, flight nurses, flight paramedics, and other adult aviation and medical professionals. The Service is not directed at children under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a person under 18 has provided personal information, we will promptly delete it.
07 Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Update inaccurate information in Settings within the app
- Deletion — Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at contact@landing-zones.com
- Portability — Request an export of your operational data (LZs, frequencies you created)
- Opt out of notifications — Disable push notifications at any time in your device settings
Account deletion requests are processed within 30 days. Operational data you contributed to a shared group may be retained by the group administrator.
08 Third-Party Services
Landing Zone integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing data they receive:

Hospital certification and helipad data is sourced from publicly available government sources including the FAA, state health departments, and The Joint Commission. This data is informational only and does not constitute medical advice.
09 Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Specifically:
- Account data — Retained until you delete your account
- Operational data (LZs, NOTAMs, frequencies) — Retained until deleted by you or a group administrator
- Terms of Use agreement records — Retained for 7 years for legal compliance
- Subscription records — Retained for 7 years per financial record requirements
- Crash and error logs — Retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted
10 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
The current version and effective date are always shown at the top of this page.
